Trip to Australia - Marcoola Beach

Friday 8th November

Forgot to say in my last post, that we packed everything but the kitchen sink for a night over in a lovely hotel in Marcoola Beach, north of Caloundra.  It was about 2 hour drive. We stopped off enroute for a drink - iced coffee - never again it was awful.

We arrived at 10 p.m. we were exhausted from a very busy day and the drive to the hotel.  Glad to kick off our shoes, have a quick shower and to bed.

The apartment was on the 5th floor, with large living room/dining area/kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms one with ensuite.

Saturday 9th November

We both awoke simultaneously,  threw back the curtains in the living room and opened the large glass doors to balcony and sat there til the sun rose.  Our view was the petrol station below and the Sunshine Coast Airport!!!  Not the sea unfortunately.

My friend and I made ourselves a quick cup of coffee and a quick breakfast with what food we had bought with us and left for a stroll on the beach at 6 a.m.

Look at this beach!! Isn't it great.  There were a couple other people walking at that time of morning too.  So peaceful.

This was taken from the same spot, but looking the other way.  Fantastic!

Now I would never thought that the sun would be so hot at 6 a.m. in the morning, but it was!!! I didn't take my sun hat so had to use my sandals to ward off the rays on the side of my head as we walked along.

Back to the apartment for a quick coffee and into our swim wear.  Now I hadn't worn or even got my swimsuit wet for over 15 years, so had no idea if it would still fit either.  Nor did I know whether I could still swim!  But the water in the Hotel pool looked so inviting and the kids who were already in it, kept badgering me to join them.  Brrr it was cold to start with.

I managed to keep afloat - just - but then the pool wasn't that deep anyway.  It was great.

A quick rub down with the towel afterwards, back to apartment for a quick shower and down to the restaurant for breakfast (our second one for the day).  This was great.  For a few dollars you could eat as much as you liked - and we did.  There was so much to choose from - fruit, cereal, and any amount of cooked breakfast. Delicious....

Time to check out of the apartment.  After packing up the car we took it slowly down the coast road towards Brisbane.

Our first stop was Point Cartright ........

I wanted to sink my feet in the sand, look at the sand dunes and beach.

From here we called into Shelly Beach on the outskirts of Caloundra. A short walk along the path overlooking the beach and back to the car.

All so beautiful to see.

We stopped off at this Club at Golden Beach for a cold drink before we went straight carrying on back to my friends home.  We were both completely exhausted - and I didn't do any driving!

Early to bed for both of us.
