Trip to Australia - Junee

Monday 25th November

We seem to never stop talking, over breakfast and in the car on our way to a visit of the Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory.

Unfortunately there was no demonstrations on our visit, but we did see the girls working behind the glass screens.  Hundreds and hundreds of chocolates going round and round in the mixers.

This was the chocolate shop next to the tea shop.  Lots of chocolates and licorice to choose from.

We ordered three Devonshire teas.  Well two scones to share between us as they had run out!  None the less it was delicious.

Visited the Gift shop upstairs - there was so much to see and buy.

I picked up a leaflet as a souvenier - at least this would not take much room in my small suitcase.

Afterwards we drove down to the main street - L asked us where do you want to go.

J wanted to visit a shop that sold a small torch.  She was worried about putting our bedside lamp on in the middle of the night, and fear of waking me.  I knew that wouldn't happen once I fell asleep!

I wanted to visit a charity shop!  Can I not get out of that habit even when I am away?!!  Well we did visit one run by Anglicare.  I bought a book - not surprised?  Well I  almost finished the only one I took with me.  It was only $1.50 and it was my favourite author - Sidney Sheldon.

Our next stop was the Wine Shop!  I wanted to choose a nice wine for our meal that evening. I was recommended one by someone in the shop and bought it, and I now wish that I had closed my eyes and picked any one from the shelf.

And to end this day we went for a ride around the housing estates...or plots...or whatever they are called.  I had already decided  I was going to buy a plot of land in Junee and have a house built and retire..........  Dream on!

Very enjoyable day!

Tuesday 26th November

Up early, had breakfast, took our time as we had all morning.  So just wandered around the house outside and sat and talked.  You would think we were all worn out with talking, but we weren't.

We had a early lunch and took our time to go to the Station and had a coffee in the Station Cafe before saying our farewells to L before boarding the train for the three hour journey back to Goulburn.

Junee Railway Station

How silly are we?  We booked the seats as one has to on the Express.  We were right up the front of the train and across the isle was this guy who just did not stop talking - to nobody - and he was loud and looking to see if anyone was looking at him.  Neither of us could have a conversation  as we could not hear ourselves speak!
Cootamundra Railway Station

At one point, about 20 miles before our destination I was trying to look out his window, across the isle to see if I could catch a glimpse of my old school, and what was the local hotel (pub) many years ago.   He just had to keep bobbing up in my line of vision and looking our way. Really annoying!

When we arrived at our destination, we both got up to walk through the carriage to get off, and could not believe that the train was half empty.  It never occured to either of us, to just swap our seats and have a peaceful journey back.

What a great couple days!
