Now my husband and I are workaholics - me more than him - and for weeks now we have been beavering away without a break and what happens then? You get over tired , etchy with each other. Something has to give.
So I suggested we go out for the day - like miles and miles away. I found this site only a few weeks ago - http://www.wherecanwego.com/, so spent an evening going through the events that might be interesting for both of us.
We found a Village Fete with a carboot sale and a classic car show.
Of course I got to see the cars too. This Morris Ten was a beauty, look how it gleams. Hours spent polishing that for the Show. When I was very young, like early teens, my brother had a Morris Eight. Of course we were too young to drive on the main roads, so spent many an hour just polishing it.
I thought this was an A35, but I forgot to look closer. Similar shape if it isn't. I remember in the 1960s travelling down to Swanage in one of these. Oh those were the days.
A Ford Anglia - ah yes, we had one of these - a grey one. Great car.
I just love mooching around the Car Boot Sale. Unfortunately this was a very small one with only about a dozen cars.
I bought a big bundle of lovely fluffy towels and a bathroom mat set, all for less than £10.00. They were expensive towels, and the lady had changed her bathroom colour, hence she was selling her old ones. I am not so fussy, I don't care if they don't match as long as they are thick and soft. So I was happy.
On the way home we found a nice pub - not sure if we would find this one again, but we made the most of the toilets, a glass of beer and very friendly staff.
Couldn't help but see it as we drove along!
Now you are going to ask me - why photograph the pub front door!! Well whilst I was sitting near the door - right where I took the photo, the young waiter ducked out this door with two plates in his hand - and you see those two up on the wooden bench, they were waiting for their lunch. That is the pub garden!
Not unusual you would say to have lunch in the garden but you see the edge of grass and then just outside the door another line - well that is a very busy main road!!! I said to the waiter, that must be scary taking food across there. He said many a time he has made a dash across the road and a car suddenly appears from round the bend and thought he was going to drop the food. He said he is surprised how fast the cars go along here.
Well all in all it was a restful day. Very very hot, but now evening is here it is starting to cool down.
Didn't you have a luverly day,
ReplyDeleteThe day you went to the Car Boot Sale...
