Crocheted blanket.....

My grandmother never had the chance to finish one of her many crocheted blankets. She died nearly 20 years ago and I acquired the unfinished blanket. Nothing fancy, just the type you crochet round and round and round with odd balls of wool. It is cosy and warm, but unfortunately barely fits the top of the double bed.

So I decided a few weeks ago to finish it! I had not been shopping for wool for years, and was shocked to see the price per ball. I was wandering around a local store and there was a sale on for this unknown apparel. No idea what they are - you either have to be extra skinny for it to be a top, or it just meant to fit round your neck.  Well they were in the sale, so I bought three for £3.00 which came to about 350 grams per garment.

Took me 30 mins to unpick one of and wind into a ball.  The fringe has been tied together with tiny knots which really won’t notice once they are crocheted in.   So today I have been busy crocheting away and completed about inch and half all round so far.

The fibres from this cheap acrylic did get up my nose though and tickle........so looking for a protection round my face the next time I do more – or just don’t breathe!
