Guernsey - Day 4

Day 4 - Hubby wasn't feel so bright, he had caught a bad cold so we had to reshuffle our schedule so that he didn't have to walk so far.

So we didn't bother to get up until 7.30 a.m. and had our breakfast on the poolside. Today I did a load of washing too and we then caught the 11 a.m. bus into St Martins Village for some supplies.

After lunch we caught the No. 11 bus to The Bridge and St Sampsons Harbour.  On our trip round the island on Sunday, we noticed a lot of small shops, so thought this would be worth a visit.

Once we finished walking the shops, we decided to leave a bus stop behind and catch the bus from the next stop, except somehow we had wandered off the track and ended up walking a long distance totally confused, so had to retrace our steps.  Popped into a pub on the way back for a quick drink.

This is the bus stop right on the harbour front.

Along the coast towards St Peters Port.

I always imagined Guernsey to have golden beaches.  Although there is sand, there are also a lot of rocks - and seaweed. But still it is a beautiful island to visit.

Back at the town terminus, we decide to catch the No.71 for our final trip - we had made a late start.

This small trip without getting off would take about half an hour (so we thought), but call of nature was urgent, so we got off the bus at the Little Chapel.

I was fascinated by this - the Chapel was made of hundreds of pieces of wedgewood and china.  Unfortunately we didn't spend much time here with the intention of returning another day, but time just run out and we did not get the chance.

The bus was due to arrive again within the hour.  If you stood our side of the road, it would be about 15 mins later than the one the other side.  It made more sense to go across the road and ride the bus for the circuit again.

It was the same bus driver!

And finally before we return to the town and the No.11 bus to our apartment, here is a Guernsey cow tethered in an open field opposite the Little Chapel.

We arrive back at 6.30 p.m., totally exhausted, but looking forward to our next trip tomorrow - Herm Island.
